American Immigrant Experience

These are stories about people from all over the world coming to America. Some of the stories focus on the trip itself and other stories speak to the experience of adjusting to a new country, language, customs, etc. We have included both fiction, autobiographical and non-fiction stories.

We think this list will be especially useful to history teachers and to parents wanting to make sure their children have an understanding of what their forebears experienced in coming to America. In either case, these stories can be a catalyst to some wonderful discussions.
